Chau Chak Wing Foundation attends Soldier On's inaugural Defence Industry Engagement Evening
01st December,2019
Chau Chak Wing Foundation was honored to be able to represent Dr Chau Chak Wing by attending Soldier On’s inaugural Defence Industry Engagement Evening last Wednesday. In attendance were key Defence Industry leaders, including Former Director of the Australian War Memorial Dr Brendan Nelson AO and Secretary of the Department of Defence Greg Moriarty.
In their address, both Soldier On CEO Ivan Slavich and Chairman Lieutenant General (Retd) Peter Leahy AC thanked
Dr Chau Chak Wing for being a major supporter of the organisation and expressed their aspirations for a long and prosperous relationship. Mr Slavich highlighted that the assistance provided by Dr Chau Chak Wing has been pivotal in giving Soldier On the opportunity to bring on extra staff, such as employing more psychologists to help veterans with their
mental health and wellbeing.
The evening aimed to showcase the work of Soldier On
in supporting veterans and their families using their
HELP programs:
Health and Wellbeing Services
Employment Support
Learning and Education Programs
Participation and Social Connection
Soldier On highlighted ongoing opportunities to help, including their March On with Bert campaign, where 101-year-old Sergeant Bert Le-Merton has challenged himself to walk 96km to raise money for modern-day service personnel. #BackBert here!
They have also recently launched The Pledge, an initiative which encourages organisations to become Pledge Partners and
commit to actively supporting veterans and their families in
their future careers.
Dr Chau Chak Wing would like to extend his thanks to Soldier On for the invitation and looks forward to continuing his support for veterans through their mission.
