Educational
opportunity for
all Australians

“Every child deserves the opportunity to access education and reach their full potential. There is no greater gift than opening the door to the world of knowledge and learning.”

We want to provide opportunities to young Australians to ensure they are capable, valuable and able to live a flourishing life regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our Why

Dr. Chau Chak Wing has a proud record of partnering with some of Australia finest tertiary institutions, including the University of Sydney and the University of Technology.

He believes that education is the key to building a civil, humane and sophisticated international society that produces the next generation of leaders whilst driving economies and opportunity. He also believes in the power of helping young people achieve their dreams through education scholarships.

"During my lifetime, I have seen first-hand how education can lift people out of poverty, giving people the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to improve their lives. In my youth I did not have the support, encouragement or opportunities that I am now proud to extend to many young people in Australia. I personally believe that the soundest investment that any philanthropist can make in the future, is an investment in those who will shape it. Our ability to learn, understand and share knowledge leads to a better appreciation of one another. Supporting educational projects has been one of the great pleasures of my life and I am fortunate to be able to do so."

Our Objectives

  • To reduce the scarcity of high-quality educational opportunity

  • To hone in on and support evident barriers to education opportunities in society

  • To establish scholarships where students can broaden their horizons and experience learning that would not otherwise be possible

How We Work

The Chau Chak Wing Foundation has a proud history of partnering with some of Australia’s finest tertiary institutions, including the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney. We will look to expand and deepen our partnerships across all educational spheres and ensure Australians benefit from the highest level of tutelage and learning.

We believe education for young people is one of the bases of driving innovation and development for our society and communities. We hope that young people achieve their purses of science through education scholarships. In recent years, we have built various scholarship programs, such as the Key Technology Partners (KTP) in UTS, to provide financial aid for students to access further learning.

In addition, the Chau Chak Wing Foundation has been proactive in further engaging with the UNESCO Futures of Education Initiative to ensure Australians own the right to free, compulsory, and accessible education. We have also focused on the effects of the digital divide in rural and regional Australia on students and teachers, to contribute in presenting ways to shape a better future in education.
