Dr. Chau is an Australian philanthropist,
business leader, and prominent figure in the Australian-Chinese community. He emigrated to Australia in the 1980s, becoming a citizen more than two decades ago. [He now divides his time between Australia and China]

Dr Chau Chak Wing met with representatives from Australian charities in Sydney on the 21st of May 2019. He was awarded $280,000 in damages after winning his Federal Court defamation case and will be "donating the damages awarded by Justice Wigney in full to a number of charities supporting Australian veterans and their families."
