Today on Australian Citizenship Day, all Australians are encouraged to reflect on the meaning, significance and responsibilities of being an Australian Citizen.
As a Fellow of the Australian War Memorial, Dr.Chau Chak Wing is greatly humbled
by this generous message of gratitude from Former Director of the Australian War Memorial,
Dr Brendan Nelson AO acknowledging his outstanding contributions
as an Australian Citizen, particularly to the veteran community.
“Dr.Chau Chak Wing, a proud Australian Citizen, has done an enormous amount, generously, to help us as Australians, tell our story.” ——Dr Brendan Nelson AO
This year marks five years since Dr.Chau Chak Wing attended his first Last Post
Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. In September 2015, he donated $500,000 for the Kingold Education and Media Centre at the Australian War Memorial, providing materials for teaching Australian military history and a further $60,000 for the ANZAC Diversity Education Program, which showcases the stories of Australian military personnel with diverse backgrounds.
Dr.Chau has since continued to support veteran charities across Australia,
including Soldier On, Legacy Australia, Commando Welfare Trust and Lifeline.
“Through his generosity to those and other organisations, he has been able to bring us hope where there was none." ——Dr Brendan Nelson AO
Dr.Chau would like to express his sincere thanks to Dr Brendan Nelson AO
for his kind words and encourages all Australians to observe what their citizenship means today.
